Abstract: Key findings • There was no significant affect of sulfur (S) application on grain yield, oil content or protein in the trials reported here, which supports the findings of other trials conducted in the Central West and Northern regions. • The lack of S response suggests the need to re-evaluate S nutrition tactics and critical soil test levels. • In contrast there were large responses to nitrogen (N). Grain yield and dry matter accumulation significantly increased with increases in N application up to 120 and 200 kg N/ha at Moree and Blackville, respectively. • Grain protein and oil content were inversely related. Increases in protein, from increased N application, caused oil content to decline.
