Abstract: Key findings • There was no effect of nitrogen on grain yield in this trial. • There were significant differences in grain yield between varieties. The varieties that were the quickest to reach flowering; LongReach Spitfire[PBR] and LongReach Dart[PBR], were the highest yielding varieties in this trial. • The application of nitrogen increased grain protein concentration from 10.9% with nil N to 14.8% with 160 kg/ha N. • LongReach Spitfire[PBR] had significantly higher grain nitrogen yield than all other varieties.
