Abstract: The 1994-95 Annual Report details a year of significant change and expansion for the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). Under new leadership and increased funding, the Service underwent organizational restructuring, establishing specialized units including zone teams and new divisions for forest conservation, environmental policy, and geographic information systems. Key achievements included the announcement of 24 new national parks and nature reserves, with five already established including Coolah Tops National Park and Eurobodalla National Park. The Service played a central role in implementing state forest conservation policies and declaring six new wilderness areas. Notable events included the discovery of the Wollemi Pine and a high-profile whale rescue operation in the Manning River. The Service maintained excellence in nature-based tourism, with multiple facilities winning NSW Tourism Awards. Enhanced funding enabled improvements in fire management, pest control, neighbor relations, infrastructure assets, and environmental assessment capabilities.
