Abstract: | The 1970 Annual Report details significant expansion and development of the National Parks and Wildlife Service of New South Wales during its second full year of operation. Key achievements include the creation of three new National Parks (Barrington Tops, Cocopara, and Kanangra-Boyd) and one new State Park (Macquarie Pass), bringing the total area under Service control to 2,710,194 acres. The Service's responsibilities were expanded through amendments to the National Parks and Wildlife Act to include protection of Aboriginal relics and sites. The report emphasizes growing public interest in conservation and documents the Service's expanding role in environmental protection and public education through interpretive programs and publications. |
