Description: | Abstract The Glen Idol 1:25,000 sheet area consists of polymetamorphosed and highly deformed sediments and volcanics. The rock units include metasediments, composite gneisses, quartzo-feldspathic gneisses and rocks, amphibolites and iron rich rocks. These comprise parts of the Euriowie and Broken Hill Blocks of the Willyama Complex. They are unconformably overlain by Adelaidean sediments. A stratigraphic sequence can be correlated with that of Stevens et al. (I98O). Although no "Mine Sequence" suite is present, an elongate pyrite-rich horizon is present in the Euriowie Block. This horizon and the rocks that contain it may warrant detailed prospecting. |
