Abstract: Key findings • Increasing sowing depth of canola from 25 mm to 75 mm significantly reduced canola establishment; however grain yield was reduced by a smaller magnitude. • Where seed was sown progressively deeper, the hybrid varieties generally had better establishment than open-pollinated (OP) varieties and suffered a smaller yield penalty.
