Abstract: Key findings • It is important to understand the heritability of yield and quality traits to achieve improvements in these characters through breeding. • Based on our results, there is good potential for continued improvement in milling yield, dough strength and yellow colour as these traits have shown strong genotypic variance. • Further work is needed to fully quantify the genotype, environment and genotype X environment interaction contributions in determining quality of Australian durum grain.
