Abstract: Key findings • Metalaxyl seed treatment reduced phytophthora root rot (PRR) yield loss in chickpea in 3 of the 4 experiments in 2021. • At the 3 sites with low to moderate PRR disease pressure, the minimum benefit of metalaxyl was close to 1 t/ha of grain. • At a fourth site where the overland flow of water lead to high disease pressure, metalaxyl did not provide protection against PRR yield losses.
