Abstract: Key findings • • Phosphorus (P) fertiliser (as triple super) reduced the establishment of canola when it was applied with the seed in furrow. Placing the P fertiliser 2.5 cm below the seed did not affect establishment. • • Nitrogen (N) fertiliser (as urea) reduced establishment of canola when it was banded 2.5 cm under the seed. Broadcasting N followed by incorporation by sowing (IBS) also reduced establishment, but only at very high N rates (200 kg N/ha).
