Abstract: Key findings •• The central west of NSW had one of its driest winter growing seasons in 2018 resulting in lower than average grain yields. •• Optimum yield was obtained when varieties flowered in the third week of September. •• The most successful phenology type were the mid to slow varieties at all sowing dates, with fast varieties proving to be more competitive at the later sowing dates.
