Abstract: In New South Wales, extrusive alkali rock types are widely distributed, but only in a few localities have more undersaturated varieties given rise to fractionated end products whose bulk chemistry suggests their suitability as a source of feldspathic raw material. products whose bulk chemistry suggests their however, laboratory testing of specimens from near Rylstone and Dubbo has shown that the fine grainsize of the matrix prevents their beneficiation to a specification acceptable to these industries
The Mittagong - Moss Vale area is at present self sufficient in crushed and broken stone, construction sand, clay shale, dimension stone, and roadbase. It is potentially an important supplier of hard rock aggregate and light-burning clays to the Sydney and Illawarra regions.
