Abstract: Detailed mapping in the Cobar - Gunderbooka area has resulted in a revision of Cobar Group stratigraphy. This group is now defined as containing three formations — the Chesney Formation, the Great Cobar Slate, and the mphitheatre Form The former C.S.A. Siltstone is now a basal member of the Amphitheatre Formation, and the Wiltagoona Sandstone Member is a new unit in the upper part of the Amphitheatre Formation. The Drysdale Conglomerate Member has been mapped at the base of the Chesney Formation. Recent fossil evidence indicates that the age of the Cobar Group extends from latest Silurian to Early Devonian.
