Abstract: | Lamont Henry Graeme Young (1851- 1880?) was an English geologist, educated at the Royal School of Mines, London, and the son of Major-General C.B. Young of the Royal Engineers. He was appointed in 1878 for a short time and again in October 1879 as one of three New South Wales Mines Department's geological surveyors. He prepared reports on several goldfields in southern New South Wales and an antimony mine near Kempsey during this period. In accordance with the Government Geologist's instructions, he arrived at Bermagui by steamer on Friday 8th October, 1880, to examine the Montreal gold diggings. |
