Unicorn Falls Draft Master Plan

Abstract

This master plan outlines the development of visitor infrastructure at Unicorn Falls and Manns Road trail head in Mount Jerusalem National Park, New South Wales, as part of the broader Tweed Byron Hinterland Trails project. The plan details infrastructure improvements designed to enhance visitor safety and experience while protecting environmental and cultural values. Key developments include a new trail head facility at Manns Road with parking for 19 vehicles, composting toilet facilities, and visitor information; formalized pathways and viewing areas at Unicorn Falls; and a 2.1-kilometer connecting walking track. The plan incorporates environmental impact assessments, cultural heritage considerations, and public consultation feedback. Implementation strategies focus on sustainable design principles, minimal environmental disturbance, and the protection of threatened species and ecological communities. This infrastructure development aims to boost regional tourism economies while ensuring long-term environmental conservation and improved community access to natural areas.
