Abstract: | Groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs) are ‘ecosystems that need access to groundwater to meet all or some of their water requirements to maintain their communities of plants and animals, their ecological processes and ecosystem services’ (NSW DPE 2023). The dependence of GDEs on groundwater varies from seasonal or episodic, to continual (Howe et al. 2007). GDEs can range in size from a few metres to many square kilometres. |
