Key findings Faba bean • PBA Amberley[PBR] was the highest yielding variety, while PBA Samira[PBR], PBA Nanu[PBR], PBA Marne[PBR], PBA Bendoc[PBR] and Nasma[PBR] had similar grain yields. • PBA Marne[PBR] and PBA Nasma[PBR] had the highest hundred seed weight. • PBA Nanu[PBR] and PBA Nasma[PBR] were the earliest to flower and continued to flower for over 50 days. PBA Amberley[PBR] and PBA Samira[PBR] were last to begin flowering and had two of the three shortest flowering durations. Albus lupin • The early flowering Murringo[PBR] was the highest yielding variety, while Luxor[PBR] and Rosetta[PBR] yielded similarly. • Murringo[PBR] was the earliest flowering, followed by Luxor[PBR] then Rosetta[PBR]. • Rosetta[PBR] had the highest hundred seed weight, while Luxor[PBR] had the lowest. Vetch • Timok[PBR] and Volga[PBR] were the highest yielding varieties. Studenica[PBR] and Morava[PBR] yielded the lowest and were not significantly different from each other. • There were no significant differences in peak dry matter between varieties. • Studenica[PBR] was first to flower and had the longest flowering duration. Morava[PBR] flowered last. • Studenica[PBR] was the earliest to mature, followed by Volga[PBR], and Timok[PBR]. Morava[PBR] matured significantly later. Lentil • The highest yielding variety was PBA Ace[PBR]. There was some loss of pod/seed due to weather conditions before harvest, but this did not influence grain yield values. • PBA Blitz[PBR] and PBA Kelpie XT[PBR] were the earliest flowering varieties and had the longest flowering duration. Nipper[PBR] and PBA Flash[PBR] flowered last. • PBA Kelpie XT[PBR] and PBA Hallmark XT[PBR] matured earliest, while Nipper[PBR], PBA Ace[PBR] and PBA Jumbo2[PBR] matured significantly later. Chickpea • Average chickpea grain yield was significantly lower than all other pulse species at this site. This is attributed to the cooler than average mean daily temperatures affecting pod set during the critical reproductive window. • While all varieties yielded above average for this environment, PBA Slasher[PBR] was the best performing variety with a grain yield of 2.8 t/ha.en
