Abstract: | Nebo Colliery, owned by the Australian Iron and Steel Pty. Ltd., mines the No. 3 or Wongawilli Seam at Mt. Kembla. Present workings extend up to about 2^ miles from the outcrop in a westerly direction, the coal being mined by continuous miners and transported by battery and diesel locomotive in 10-ton capacity mine cars to the surface coal handling plant. Five continuous miners are in use, each working on production of coal on day and afternoon shifts. Four of these units are normally on full production, the fifth being used for a single heading development being driven using arched supports. |
