dc.description.abstract | The Brickclay Creek Deep Lead, approximately 10 miles south-west of Walcha, is of Tertiary age and has been developed in a tributary of the Macdonald River. Several layers of unconsolidated wash separated by basalt flows have been recognized resting unconformably on a meta sediment basement of Silurian (?) age. The wash is auriferous in several localities immediately above the basement. The lead has been estimated to contain approximately 300,000 cubic yards of wash of which 18,500 cubic yards may be auriferous and not covered by basalt. Of the order of two thousand cubic yards of wash, possibly carrying 2 dwts of gold per yard, are available for immediate working and are not covered by barren wash | - |
