Abstract: This Code was prepared by sub-committee MN/1/1, working under the direction of the Association's Committee on Coal and Coke MN/1 It was written to fulfil, for the first time, a long outstanding need for a uniformity of approach to the evaluation of hard coal bore cores. No single set of procedures will satisfy the varied objectives of all exploration drilling programmes. This Code merely describes the options, together with sufficient explanation for the reader to select the procedures appropriate to his needs. A Bibliography of selected texts allows for more detailed, specific study. The Code is based on papers presented at the Symposium on Coal Borehole Evaluation (Brisbane, 1977). It also incorporates the relevant details from AS CK14 - 1967, Australian Code of Recommended Practice For Sampling Coal Seams In Situ By Boring.
