dc.description.abstract | Welcome to the winter issue of Understory. With thanks to our landholders, private land conservation continues to grow in NSW. Our innovative biodiversity and carbon tender in the Murray Riverina is progressing well, with conservation agreements likely to protect up to 1500 hectares of threatened remnant woodland. Recently, one of our landholders at Cessnock hosted Environment Minister Penny Sharpe and generously shared their experience as a conservation agreement‑holder. The Minister saw first-hand how the landholder is protecting the critically endangered North Rothbury persoonia (Persoonia pauciflora), controlling weeds and managing ecological burns for habitat conservation. Demand for our education programs is strong. In April, our Conservation Champions program continued with 55 primary students participating in a hands-on learning day at Walgrove Station, in partnership with Petaurus Education, Landcare NSW, Local Land Services and Hay Aboriginal Community Working Party Wiradjuri members | en |
