Abstract

The work of this section is concerned with the evaluation and chemical problems related to the occurrence, prospecting, winning, treatment, utilisation and metallurgy of ores and minerals of the heavy metals, including the precious and base metals; control assays connected with experimental treatment to beneficiate ores; analysis of metals and alloys; for Government Department, e.g. Stores, Government Printer and the public, e.g. foundries; and recovery of gold and silver bullion from waste materials forwarded from Government bodies. Prior to 1961, this work Included the whole of the Precious Metals, (Fire Assay) Section under Mr. K. C. Williams and a major part of the General Inorganic section under the late Mr. Mander Jones
