Abstract: The explosibility of coal-dust and the measures which may be adopted to render the dust non-inflammable are among the most important subjects dealt with in mining research work. In the present pamphlet, which has been prepared by Mr. R. P. Jack, Senior Inspector of Collieries, the principal facts which have evolved from such research are presented in correlated order, and, further, it is indicated how the results of these investigations may be beneficially applied at the collieries in this State. Fortunately, the propagation of an explosion by coal dust can be prevented by the application of stone dust of a suitable nature, correctly and adequately applied.
