On 4 April 2011 Land and Property Management Authority was abolished and staff who were principally involved in the administration of the Crown Lands Act 1989 (Act No.6, 1989) were removed from the Department of Planning to the Department of Primary Industries within the newly established Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services (NSW Trade & Investment). This formed the Crown Lands division. From 1 January 2024 when the Department of Planning and Environment was renamed the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Crown Lands continued to be a branch of that department.
